Leicestershire and Rutland
School Cross Country Leagues

Welcome to the site for the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Primary and Secondary Schools Cross Country Leagues.

Races are held at Prestwold Hall, near Loughborough, during  Autumn and Winter.

“Further to my post regarding the possible resumption of schools cross country, I can confirm that this will NOT happen in September. I am now working towards 31st October. I need to work with the governing body to gain approval and a licence.
Please keep an eye out here and via the FaceBook Group”

Update September 1st 2020

“Please see the below update on the prospect of Cross Country at Prestwold Hall.

Firstly the date of September 26th is still pencilled in however as you will see from the below it will require some quick work. Having said this much is already in place to make the date. England Athletics(EA) who issue our permits have published guidance for the resumption of cross country. Much of this we are either ahead of or are already complying with within the plans. EA are not going to be issuing licences until October. I am in discussions with them to accept us as a “trial event”.
I am hopeful of knowing next week which as you will note is pretty close to the initial date! If it delays further it is unlikely that the events will go ahead until October as there won’t be enough time to get everything in place.
The Covid Secure Environment information will be up on the website soon and will be emailed out directly to schools. Note that this is a working document

There are some key points to note as follows:

Entries will be on-line only. There will be no “turn up and race” arrangements. Instead of a parking fee there will be a £6.50 entry fee. The event will be chip timed. Race numbers and chip will be posted where possible so early entry will be required. This will be especially important for the first event if we are allowed to go ahead in September.
There will be scheduled arrival times and a separate area for congregation and warming up. Competitors will only be allowed on the Race Field after the previous race has cleared. Only one person (plus any siblings) will be allowed to accompany each competitor to the start and finish.
There will be a short window for Leicestershire and Rutland competitors to guarantee entry. The race will then be opened to those outside of the county. A radical move I know however with vastly reduced numbers we need to ensure the event can cover costs which are substantially higher due to requiring chip timing and posting out race numbers.etc. We will need lots of extra help on the day. If you can support us please let me know!”
